Dual-screen laptops are arguably all the rage these days, with Lenovo and Asus introducing models designed to be used as a laptop, tablet, or anything in between. But why stop there?
A few years ago, Expansys brought a 7-monitor computer and last year, MediaWorkstation introduced a 6-monitor workstation that is precisely a computer, but is designed to be portable. Have you ever wondered what happened next to multi-monitor systems?? Both corporations went bankrupt.
As reported via TechRadar, Expanscape dissolved its business in November 2023, and that means you’ll probably never be able to buy the Expansys Aurora 7 PC that the company has been showcasing for years.
It’s probably. . . It is ok. While it’s truly impressive to look at, it’s also a 26-pound beast with two large batteries that still only featured about an hour of battery life. And honestly, some of the smaller screens seem to break if you look at them wrong.
As for the 6-monitor MediaWorkStation a-X2P, it weighed up to 55 pounds and had no battery, so it was more portable than a laptop. But it also supports two AMD Epyc processors with a combined total of 192 cores and 384 threads, up to two discrete GPUs, up to 6TB of RAM, and other features that would be difficult to run on battery.
But MediaWorkstation is now a parked domain and there’s no way to buy this behemoth either.
So I guess if you really need a 6-screen computer, you’ll have to build your own. I’m guessing you can achieve this by connecting a dual-screen laptop like the DUOONE, Xebec Snap, or Mobile Pixels Trio to a dual-screen computer like the Asus Zenbook Duo or the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i. That would give you 4 screens at the bottom, two or 3 to do.

I don’t think anyone is surprised at these news least the company itself. I think this was a meme company to troll some tech-bros born out of a dare or something.
Maybe the sufficiently dedicated should DIY it: https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/mega-six-screen-cyberdeck/
