German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock welcomed the new system and said the reform “should have been done a long time ago. “

“Every year, Germany is short at least 400,000 workers,” Baerbock said.

“At times like these, we absolutely cannot delay other, more productive people from coming here to roll up their sleeves because of the lengthy bureaucracy of paper applications and even longer wait times,” he said. he added.

Baerbock noted that Germany, as a country of immigration, requires “a national visa process: modern, virtual and secure. “
