Is the Bundesliga title race over? Perhaps not quite. But Bayern Munich has made a big step towards reclaiming the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. While the Rekordmeister beat SC Freiburg 2-1, Leverkusen dropped two points against RB Leipzig after being 2-0 up early on.
Bayern defeated Freiburg thanks to goals from Harry Kane (15th) and Min-Jae Kim (54th). Matthias Ginter (69th) made the game attractive in the second half, but Bayern managed to keep the 3 points, unlike Leverkusen. Goals from Patrik Schick (18′) and Aleix García (36′) were not enough as David Raum (41′) and an opposing goal from his own half by Edmond Tapsoba (85′) allowed Leipzig to come back.
In fact, this seems a vital moment in the race by name. Levekusen now occupies six Rekordmeister numbers. This means that even a house victory in February against Bayern would only save three points.
