Trying to navigate the low-quality design can be enough to stifle your enthusiasm. There are 3 main issues that can make the site unusable: it looks shady, an alarming portion of the user base is made up of bots and spam accounts, and the user interface itself is riddled with bugs.
Other Reddit users mention that the desktop web edition doesn’t even load at random times, a particularly frustrating impediment for other people who need to end their subscription and avoid monthly fees. A solution to slow internet editing could be to clear the cache or use the smartphone app, but your experience may not improve. To top off this vagueness, a network hack in 2016 revealed around 412 million accounts, adding “deleted” accounts that were not actually removed from the database. Signing up with an email recorder and avoiding using your genuine call as a user call are sensible decisions (just pick a nasty word and load 69 at the end, maybe), it’s hard to keep your information private. own when it comes to credit cards.
In 2007, AFF was involved in a lawsuit with the FTC over allegations that the site used malware to deliver targeted pop-up ads to computers belonging to other people who had not signed up for the service. Horny Matches is a newer dating site that might start popping up, but it hasn’t stolen AdultFriendFinder’s screen yet, perhaps because of its questionable name. Still, it has its merits. The first merit of Horny Matches is that it’s more fashionable and cleaner. The name is more obvious, but the main page encourages other people to “make the first move” instead of mentioning the words “” and “sex” multiple times. However, the audience is not as large as that of AdultFriendFinder, and most people will opt for more features and less for an aesthetic app.
AdultFriendFinder is possibly the easiest, most low pressure way to find a friends-with-benefits situation without insulting anyone. Everyone is pretty much there for the same reason — and though it’ll feel pretty unorthodox if you’ve only ever used to Tinder to scope this type of thing out, AFF’s blunt advertising at least means you won’t have to explain that you’re not looking for a relationship. It’s niche-friendly, well-populated, and has a lot of interactive outlets to indulge your primal urges.
But that freedom comes with a price — the price being feeling like one of those people who falls for the ads that pop up before a free Pornhub video. It’s not that a site dedicated to sex and sexting is inherently scammy — it’s that AdultFriendFinder drowns you with explicit photos on profiles who might not even be real people while asking you to pay for a subscription with every click. Unfortunately, no matter how in the mood you are, some people aren’t cut out for the nothing-left-to-the-imagination approach with grammar mistakes all over the place. It wants to be sex-positive so badly, but the way sign-up talks about the trans community is the furthest thing from that.
The capacity and security of the site and mobile app are not where they deserve to be in 2021. While security measures have been tightened, graphics and visuals have been cleaned up to make them look more relevant, and decision-makers have been taught a lesson in the scenes.
