A homicide suspect was taken into the woods where he allegedly killed a woman, a stopover during his trial.
Iain Packer, 50, is on trial at Glasgow High Court accused of sexually murdering 27-year-old Emma Caldwell in 2005 and faces 46 charges, plus rape, kidnapping and assault.
He denies all charges against him and has special grounds for incrimination, consent, self-defense, and self-defense.
Packer is accused of strangling Miss Caldwell with his hands and a cable, assaulting her, squeezing her wrists, attempting to rape and murdering her in a wooded domain known as Limefield Woods, near Roberton, South Lanarkshire, on April 5, 2005.
He is most accused of attempting to thwart justice by allegedly disposing of Ms. Caldwell’s body, cell phone, clothing, and personal belongings, as well as cleaning the interior of a car that belonged to her.
He denies the fees and has filed a special incriminating defense.
On Thursday, Packer was taken to the woodland site where Miss Caldwell’s body was found on May 8, 2005.
He wore a mask and walked with a cane while helping two criminal guards on a swampy terrain in a pine forest.
The jury was also taken to the site and stood across a stream which divides the forest, surrounded by police in high-visibility jackets.
They walked along a path of yellow plastic markers to view the domain where Miss Caldwell’s frame was found.
Judge Lord Beckett attended dressed in waterproof trousers and an anorak.
The convoy had left the courthouse early and Packer was taken to the scene in an unmarked white Ford pickup truck.
The trial continues.
