A state of emergency has been declared in the Russian city of Engels after a Ukrainian drone strike hit an oil depot that supplies Russia’s nuclear bomber planes.
Saratov regional governor Roman Busargin said that two firefighters had been killed while tackling the blaze.
A massive fireplace has exploded in the “Kristal” oil complex, as well as explosions, in the city of Engels after long -range attacks, said the Ukrainian army.
He added that the oil depot has fuel for the army airfield “Engels-2”, where Russia’s fleet of nuclear bombers is located.
“The strike of the oil depot creates serious logistical problems for the strategic aviation of the Russian occupiers and significantly reduces their ability to strike at peaceful Ukrainian cities and civilian objects,” the Ukrainian military said.
Russian news reports said the fire was at an oil facility.
Videos and images not crowned on social networks have shown a giant chimney of orange flames, sending thick clouds of smoke in the afternoon sky.
Busargin said that the cities of Saratov and Engels, contrary to the Volga River, had undergone a “massive drone attack” and that there was a chimney in a commercial place, but there were no known casualties.
“There are enough forces and resources for fire,” he added.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in A that 11 Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight in the Saratov region, and 21 in other parts of Russia and the Sea of Azov.
The Engels air base is about 450 miles southeast of Moscow and many kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

The Ukrainian army said Wednesday that Russia introduced a drone general in the country during the night.
