At least nine other people were inside a mobile home in Clearwater, Florida, just before a single-engine plane crashed into it Thursday night, killing the pilot and two other people, the government said.
The Clearwater Police Department said two of the other people in the home left just before the plane hit space around 7 p. m.

The group had gone to the house to socialize after a day of golf and dinner at a restaurant, Mr. Atwood said. He said he and three others left just 10 minutes before the plane struck, and five others left just five minutes before the crash.
He said it was “pure luck” he wasn’t there when the plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza V35, crashed into the house. “Today I’m going to buy a lottery ticket and thank God we got out just in time,” he said. he said Friday.
The pilot had reported an engine failure just before the plane reached the home, Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Ehlers said at a news conference. Authorities did not release the names of the pilot or the other two people who died in the home.
“Our minds are with the three sick people and their families,” Clearwater Police Chief Eric Gandy said Friday. “This tragedy may have been even worse. “
