Especially if you’re a fan of Prime Video, as the site has announced it’ll hike your monthly bill by an extra £2.99 if you want to skip adverts. Which is why we’ve rounded up our tech team’s tried and tested streaming apps, how much it’ll cost you per month and what you can watch.

Starting with the recently replaced Prime Video, it will now cost you an extra £2. 99 if you need to avoid classified ads. So far, users have been able to avoid the inevitable classifieds and the new arrival will even disrupt movies. However, you will still be able to make the most of your free trial period.

As Jake said, “I feel like Apple TV stands out from its competition just because of its high-quality content. “Over the past two years, it has become clear to what extent the company has adopted the ‘quality over quantity’ approach. “As a streaming fan, I’ve never fully subscribed to a Virgin Media or Sky TV package, so combining services like Prime Video, Now TV and Disney becomes a lot less expensive every month. And it’s a lot less difficult to watch from my phone. “
Our resident tech and automotive editor, Gareth Butterfield, opts for YouTube when he feels like getting up. He said: “For at least five years, I have searched for content on YouTube. “I also like to watch a crime documentary, I feel like it, and YouTube has a huge diversity of content to subscribe to. And it’s also a wonderful platform to be more informed about the latest trends in customer technology. “
Gareth continues to share a familiar issue with YouTube that, like other streaming platforms, is pretty hard to ignore. . . advertisements. This is what creators rely on to monetize their content, but for those who use the service for free, it means they’ll get some interrupted videos.

“For me, that’s worth every penny. YouTube won’t give you access to the latest movies, and if you’re hooked on some of the Netflix or Amazon Prime dramas you won’t find them on YouTube and you’ll have to pay separate subscriptions. So it won’t suit everyone. But it suits me, and I can’t imagine life without it”, Gareth explained.
