An 18-year-old British volunteer who enlisted to help defend Ukraine was killed by a Russian drone just minutes into his first mission, according to a report.
James Wilton, from Huddersfield, travelled to Ukraine at the age of 17 and with no past army experience, where he reportedly won an accidental course from Ukrainian instructors.

According to the Russian government and news reports, a Pro-Putin paramilitary leader has been killed in an explosion of bombs in the lobby of a luxury construction in Moscow.
Armen Sarkisyan, who Ukraine has accused of aiding Russia’s war in Donetsk, was targeted in the attack; he was critically injured in the blast and later died in hospital, according to the Kommersant newspaper.
Another person was killed and three others injured in the blast. State news agency Tass cited an unidentified law enforcement source as saying a bomb was planted in the building.
In December, Sarkisyan, who also directed a boxing federation, accused the Ukraine security service of participating in an illegal armed or paramilitary education or attending such formations in the fighting operations opposed to their armed forces.

The United Nations Human Rights Surveillance Mission has registered an “alarming increase” in informed Ukrainian executions captured through the Russian armed forces in the beyond a few months, he said Monday.
The project in Ukraine said it had gained reports of 79 executions in 24 separate incidents since the end of August last year. International humanitarian law prohibits the execution of prisoners of war and the wounded, and considers it a war crime.
“Many Ukrainians who were or were in police custody of the Russian Armed Forces were shot dead.

We have noted that an explosion at a luxury residential complex in northwestern Moscow, described through Russian state media as an “assassination”, seriously injured a senior aide of Ukrainian Putin.
The figure in question, Armen Sarkissian, from the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, is a close spouse known to former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovitch, the pro-Russian politician who expelled the rest of a pro-democracy movement in 2014. He then fled to Russia.
In December 2024, Ukraine Security Services (SBU) informed Mr. Sarkisyan in absence that he investigated to exercise combat sets to combat Ukraine and help Russia.
