Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday in which the two jointly supported the progression of a “fairer multipolar global order,” Reuters reported, citing Russian state television.
The phone call between the two leaders comes a day after Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
During Tuesday’s call with Xi, Putin said that Russia-China relations are based on shared interests, equality and mutual benefits, noting that they “do not count on domestic political points and the existing foreign environment. “

“We jointly progress a global order and paints a fairer multipolar to have some indivisible security in Eurasia and in the global as a whole,” Putin told Xi in comments carried through Russian state television. The joint efforts of Russia and China play a vital stabilizing role in global affairs. “
The two leaders also praised the close cooperation between Moscow and Beijing, saying it is helping to “bring positive power to the reform and progression of the global system. “
Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Usshakov said the two leaders spoke for about an hour and 35 minutes. They discussed issues such as clients for an imaginable peace deal to end the war in Ukraine, according to Reuters.
Xi also informed Putin of the phone call with Trump.
Xi and Putin showed that the two countries are in a position to identify relations with the United States on a mutual and respectful basis if the Trump team shows interest, Usshakov said.

On Jan. 17, Xi congratulated Trump on his re-election as U. S. president. He had expressed readiness for further progress in China-U. S. U. S. Relationships from a new starting point.
The two leaders also exchanged perspectives on the Ukraine crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli clash and other primary foreign issues.
