A Google spokesperson told TechCrunch that there was a buildup of traffic starting at 10:25 a. m. ET, which correlated with an unrelated outage. While the spokesperson did not elaborate, this timing is consistent with a primary outage at Meta, where users were unable to access Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. The spokesperson said a small number of users have been affected and there is no evidence of cyberattacks.
Several social media sites are experiencing outages Tuesday morning. YouTube has shown that some users are uploading videos to the platform; Meanwhile, platforms like Discord and Meta’s Threads, Facebook, and Instagram are also down.
According to an article on Google’s page, users will possibly encounter a blank homepage, error messages, wheels spinning while scrolling in Shorts, and run out of videos to watch in the infinite stream of Shorts.
“Rest assured, we’ve been looking for a solution lately!”the message reads.
YouTube also shared an update on his X account, which links to the page.

The root cause of these widespread outages remains unclear. Sometimes platforms stream at the same time if they use the same cloud services, such as AWS, but AWS doesn’t report any issues; In addition, corporations like Meta and Google are gigantic enough to operate knowledge centers independently of providers like AWS, making disruptions of this nature uncommon.
