CLEMSON, S. C. (AP) — Clemson University men’s basketball earned an overall bid for the 2024 NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 and will face No. 11 seed New Mexico in Memphis, Tennessee, on Friday in the first round. is scheduled to end at 15h10. ET on TruTV.
This is the fourth time head coach Brad Brownell has told the Tigers that they have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers will be making their fourteenth appearance in the tournament overall. All of them have taken positions since 1980.

Clemson enters the tournament with a 21-11 record, an 11-9 record in CCA regular-season games.
PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S. C. /Dorman) was named first-team All-ACC, while Ian Schieffelin (Loganville, Ga. /Grayson) was named ACC’s Most Improved Player. Schieffelin and Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls, N. Y. /Glens Falls) earned All-ACC Honorable Mention.
The Tigers are led by Hall with a GAA of 18. 8. Hall has recorded a career-high 14 20-point games this season, 31 points and 17 rebounds against Georgia Tech.
Hall has seven double-doubles this season and is one of only four players in the country to average at least 18. 5 points, 6. 5 rebounds, 1. 5 assists and 1. 5 blocks per game.
Three Tigers have double-digit averages, Hall (18. 8), Girard III (15. 7) and Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga. /Westlake) (12. 3). Girard ranks second on the team in scoring and has career highs in the box (43. 8). ), 3 (42. 5) and from the free throw line (95. 6).
Girard earned CCA Player of the Week honors this season, his first of his career, and had nine games with 20 points and 27 on 3-pointers, totaling thirteen in which he scored 4 or more.
Clemson’s most successful run in the NCAA came in 1980, the first year Clemson drafted. The Tigers won three games of the tournament under head coach Bill Foster and reached the tournament’s elite eight before losing to UCLA. Clemson also made it to Sweet 16 in 1990 with Cliff Ellis. , 1997 with Rick Barnes and 2018 with Brad Brownell.
Coach Brownell introduced 3 other systems in the NCAA tournament. In the past, he led UNC Wilmington in 2003 and 2006, Wright State in 2007 and Clemson in 2011, 2018 and 2021. He took each and every school to the tournament in his first year with the program.
