Sulmara to paint on the characterisation of Scotland’s floating wind farm

International subsea specialist Sulmara has been awarded a contract through Stromar, a joint venture between Ørsted, BlueFloat Energy and Renantis, to paint the 1 GW floating offshore wind farm in Scotland.

As part of the contract, Sulmara will carry out the characterization of the Vos Magnifique assignment site, a 60-meter multipurpose submarine vessel, to conduct geophysical investigations at the proposed wind farm site in water depths of up to 100 meters.

The project, which will commence in April, will include the acquisition of knowledge for Stromar’s engineering design work, as well as its ongoing environmental assessment of the site, located approximately 50km off the coast of Caithness in the north of Scotland.

“Mobilising the Vos Magnifique to carry out a high-specification characterisation is a vital component of our 2024 plans, and bringing some other modern, fuel-efficient vessel online to meet market demand shows our commitment to supporting our customers’ network. 0 ambitions,” said Michael King, Sulmara’s sales director.

This news follows Sulmara’s recent signing of a three-year agreement with Atlantic Offshore to charter the multi-purpose vessel Ocean Marlin, and the launch of its Route Development line of business, a new set of facilities aimed at reducing the dangers faced by consumers in subsea operations. . .
