It didn’t take long for the United Football League to unveil a revolutionary generation that is expected to be used through the NFL. The new spring league, which combined the XFL and USFL, took the first step toward eliminating prisoners.
Gone are the days of orange sticks (soon)!
Bolt6, a company at the forefront of sports generation innovation, has partnered with UFL to integrate what’s known as the “Tru Line generation” into gaming. Its purpose is precision in locating the ball.
Each UFL stadium has installed six calibrated 4K cameras. They are used solely to determine precisely where the ball deserves to be placed in the area by matching all other angles in real time.
Arlington running back Leddie Brown went out of bounds with the first scorer. A live umpire may have awarded a circular of downs. This is not the case with technology.
After further examination, Brown went out of bounds when the ball was exactly five inches away.
Although TrU Line’s first step was a success, as a viewer at home I struggled to accurately perceive what was happening in the review. There has to be a way to translate the procedure to convey it!
As for the generation itself, it’s a big step in the right direction. The process has been a bit long, but it will get better over time as the style gains more information.
Bolt6’s TrU Line generation leverages trained device learning models that spring into action from the moment a referee places the ball on the ground. These models temporarily determine the precise position of the ball on the field, and all processing is done in the cloud to ensure minimal on-site equipment is required, beyond the Bolt6 cameras.
I’m a big fan of Chain Gang. Strictly for content purposes.
Two guys holding giant orange sticks, it’s hilarious. A tangled chain is even more fun.
However, if I’m realistic, there’s simply no explanation as to why the old way of doing things is the current way of doing things, especially in the NFL. We have the generation and UFL has showcased it!
