Fugro has moved its Amberjack jack jack (SEP) rig to Japan to meet the country’s demand for offshore wind geotechnical services.
This resolution will boost mobilization at allocation sites and enable faster delivery of Fugro’s geographic data to the country’s emerging offshore wind industry.
The Amberjack reflagged in December 2023 and is now founded in Tokyo, from where it will be deployed in wind farm projects in Japan and provide consumers with geotechnical drilling, high-quality sampling, and a variety of in-house testing.
All SEP capacities meet foreign and Japanese geotechnical criteria up to a maximum water intensity of 42 m.
“The relocation of Fugro Amberjack to Japan will more temporarily respond to the growing demand for SEP geotechnical services in our country.
“The Japanese government is targeting growth of 10 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and 30 GW to 45 GW by 2040.
