When I was expecting my first child, I told myself that I wasn’t going to let the kids stop me from staying. Four years later, I find it ridiculous. It’s not easy with kids, but it’s also great to be able to explore new places and cultures through my son’s eyes.
Cooper was born in January 2020. No we’ve worked a lot (for apparent reasons). So last year, when my son Charley was born, I decided things would be different. I temporarily learned that dealing while ing was a totally other matter. After several failed attempts to narrow down the list of items, I nonetheless settled on a few (well, six) essentials that made breastfeeding feasible on a vacation across Europe, the Caribbean, or even Japan, I promise. A little effort. Planning is possible.
Keep an eye out for one that has a rechargeable battery so you don’t get stuck in an outlet (especially in a foreign country where you want an adapter). You’ll need one that fits your bra perfectly, such as the Willow Go portable breast pump. or the Spectra nine portable rechargeable electric double breast pump, which is super lightweight.
Leche takes its own breast milk and turns it into powder, which lasts up to 3 years. This is absolutely wonderful for those who need flexibility and don’t need to carry frozen or expressed milk. There’s even an option that splits breast milk. in separately sealed bags for carry-out.
Traveling with young people involves many things. What if you’re breastfeeding?A ridiculous amount of stuff. Invest in a baby bag that you need to use, that you’ll love to wear, because you’ll take it with you everywhere. I love the Prada Re-Nylon baby bag (fashion and functionality, check it out) because you can throw it away. in the wash, and Lululemon’s tote bag for new parents is also fantastic.
Trust me: the last thing you need is to go to a public restroom to clean any and all nooks and crannies of your breast pump when traveling. I’ve discovered those all-purpose cleansing wipes that do a wonderful cleaning job. Removes debris and build-up temporarily and safely; Just make sure the pump is dry before cleaning.
There are ready-to-use boxes, in particular designed to store your breast milk or in case of need: one cup will do (just make sure it has a smart seal; I like Ceres Chill and the Willow Portable Breast Milk Cooler). According to the CDC, breast milk deserves to be stored in the refrigerator after four hours, so keep this in mind if you plan on sightseeing for a while.
If you didn’t already know, multi-purpose pieces are the way to get through here, like wet/dry bags. I like to have a variety of sizes of Mushie and Calpak to buy pump parts, hide dirty clothes from the kids, or use them to keep things tidy like chargers and passports.
