Best New TV Shows and Movies to Stream on Netflix, Hulu, Max, and More for the Week of May 20

With Prime Video, Hulu, Disney, Max (formerly HBO Max), Apple TV, Parquantity, Netflix, Peacock, Starz, and many more streaming services, there’s no shortage of features to decide what you need to watch in your free time. However, sometimes, the amount of fantastic videos and TV shows that can be streamed can be overwhelming and lead to aimless scrolling.

Don’t scroll any further! To help you out, we’ve rounded up the best videos and TV shows to stream this week, adding new releases, nostalgia-filled favorites, book adaptations, and much more. For starters, Dune: Part 2, starring Timothée Chalamet, is still coming to Max, after being available only for rent or purchase online, so subscribers to the service can watch it at no extra cost.

There’s a lot more news to stream this week. The Kardashians (and Jenner) are back for a fifth season of their hit series Truth, which offers a glimpse into family life. A documentary about the Beach Boys with interviews with the members themselves. It will be streamed for enthusiasts of the innovative band. Also, Jennifer Lopez stars in a new Netflix movie that will be released this week, and this time it’s sci-fi.

The sand-covered planet of Arrakis came to life in Dune: Part 1, which was first released in October 2021. The Kardashians will premiere on Hulu on Thursday, May 23.

Liverpool had the Beatles and America had the equally iconic Beach Boys. The five-member group (three brothers) rose to fame in the 1960s thanks to their revolutionary and harmonious songs. This new documentary, The Beach Boys, includes never-before-seen footage celebrating the band, as well as new interviews with all of the band members: Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston. The documentary begins streaming on Disney on May 24.

Data analyst Atlas Shepherd (Jennifer Lopez) is hired to help search for a robot (Simu Liu) on the run. Although she has been wary of new technologies, she will now have to put her life in the hands of a tough AI. Suit driven to stay alive and save the world. The sci-fi film, which also stars Sterling K. Brown, will premiere on Netflix on Friday, May 24.

Lollapalooza, now an iconic music festival, began as a touring event of select rock in the early 1990s through Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction. Paramount’s new documentary, LOLLA: The Story of Lollapalooza, highlights those early years with footage of stars performing and interviews with artists who have graced the festival stage, adding Ice-T and Chance the Rapper. The three-part documentary begins airing on Paramount on May 21.

The third season of Bridgerton, divided into two parts, focuses on Penelope Featherington’s (Nicola Coughlan) search to find a husband. Penelope finds herself in front of eligible bachelors, but Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) gives her more confidence. When his recommendation works a little too well and he has the attention of a respectable suitor, Colin begins to realize that he has feelings for Penelope. The first component of Bridgerton season 3 premiered on Netflix on May 16.

In the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, iconic queens will compete for the Drag Race Hall of Fame and a donation to the charity of their choice. Watch RuPaul royalty once walk the runway, adding Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, Shannel, Roxxxy Andrews and Gottmik. The new season premiered on Paramount on May 17 with RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: Untucked (season 6) for a behind-the-scenes look.

Based on a true story, The Big Cigar offers audiences a glimpse into the audacious escape of Black Panther Party co-founder Huey P. Newton in Cuba. While the FBI focuses its attractions on Newton, Bert Schneider, a Hollywood producer, comes to his rescue. The Iron Claw tells the story of the real-life Von Erich brothers, who made a professional wrestling hitale in the 1980s.

Don’t ask us why, but Disney calls the next season, with Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, season 1 of Doctor Who. On Friday, May 10, Disney unveiled the first two episodes of the new season. We don’t know exactly what to expect, but we do know that the Doctor and his partner, Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) will travel through space and time aboard the TARDIS to save worlds in need.

First released in 1970, Let It Be documented the Beatles looking to return to their roots for a new album, which only further widened the rift between the beloved band members. Star Wars: Tales of the Empire is a six-episode series that tells the adventure of young Morgan Elsbeth and former Jedi Barriss Offee. While one seeks revenge, the other confronts the galaxy in conversion while the Imperial global gains the upper hand.

To prevent a widespread attack that could claim countless lives, two women will have to work together on FX’s new series, The Veil. An elite M16 agent (Elisabeth Moss) and a woman who might have the answers (Yumna Marwan) will have to stay alive on the perilous road from Istanbul to London while outside forces try to stop them. The action-packed series began streaming on Hulu on Tuesday, April 30.

Starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, Everyone But You was the highest-grossing R-rated romantic comedy since 2016’s Bridget Jones’ Bathrough and the highest-grossing live-action adaptation of Shakespeare of all time.   The film follows two former rivals (played by Sweeney and Powell) who hate each other but will have to pretend to be a couple at a wedding in Australia. Inevitably, sparks begin to fly between them.   The classic movie Enemies of Lovers premiered on Netflix on April 23.

Thank You, Smart Night: A Bon Jovi Story is a four-part documentary series chronicling the band’s mythical rise and longevity. Featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews with the band members, adding vocalist Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, bassist Hugh McDonald, drummer Tico Torres, and guitarist Phil X, it’s a streaming event that enthusiasts probably shouldn’t miss.   Thank You, Good Night: A Good Jovi Story premiered on Hulu on Friday, April 26.

A hilarious and action-packed adventure, Knuckles focuses on the red hedgehog, Knuckles, from the beloved video game Sonic the Hedgehog. Idris Elba voices Knuckles, who will train Wade Whipple (Adam Pally of Happy Endings) in the path of an Echidna warrior. Things temporarily spiral out of control as the forces try to borrow Knuckles’ power. The six-episode miniseries premiered on Paramount on April 26.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas narrates Disneynature’s new documentary, Tiger. The nature film covers 1,500 days in the Indian forest, where a young tigress has just given birth to her cubs. Viewers will watch as the tigress turns those clumsy little ones into ferocious predators as she faces enemies her own predators as they grow, adding rival pythons, bears, and male tigers.

HBO’s Emmy-winning original series We’re Here returns for a fourth season on Max. Renowned drag queens Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall, and Latrice Royal will travel to small towns across the U. S. He has joined the U. S. with a project to spread love.

Under the Bridge is based on the book of the same name written by Rebecca Godfrey and the book is based on true events. The story follows the gruesome murder of 14-year-old Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta), who never returns after attending a high school party. A local police officer (Lily Gladstone) and Godfrey (Riley Keough) become concerned and reveal that the most likely suspects are an organization of teenage girls. The mystery began streaming on Hulu on April 17.

Bachelor Nation will be Tyler Cameron, who participated in the Bachelorette Hannah Brown season. Since accepting roses, Cameron has started a thriving home improvement business. The series premiered on Prime Video on April 18.
