A 5-Day Instagram-Enabled Itinerary Through Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal, is an up-and-coming city as an attractive destination for American students. It is a glorious city, full of ancient sites, beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants and nightlife that will offer everything for everyone. I spent two months in Lisbon last summer for an internship and knew the attractions well. So, after you’ve noticed it all, here are my most sensible recommendations for visitors (with a special focus on the most Instagrammable locations for your Instagram post, of course).

Lisbon has earned a special place in my center (especially as a destination for young people) because:

Museo Nacional do Azuelejo (Museo Nacional del Azulejo)

The National Tile Museum is one of Lisbon’s hidden gems. Despite its ordinary collection of Portuguese tiles, it is less frequented by tourists because it is a bit out of the way. However, with a 10-minute Uber, you can seamlessly get it on your itinerary. Bring money to pay the small upfront fee. This was definitely one of my favorite sites and I probably wouldn’t disappoint you.

Castle of San Jorge

While in Lisbon, you’ll stop at São Jorge Castle, as it’s a popular landmark and tourist attraction. Although the interior of the existing castle is not very impressive (in my opinion!), it is worth going to see beautiful panoramic views. Perspectives of the village as well as the peacocks that roam the property.

Sky Bar Lisbon

The Sky Bar Lisboa is by far the most charming bar in Lisbon. Located on the rooftop of the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade hotel, it offers high-end cocktails and surprising perspectives of the city. The bar domain is decorated with elegant floral arrangements. I set out to take photos on the sublime white steps leading to the bar. The drinks are expensive but worth it for the view!

Praia de Carcavelos (for surf lessons)

Carcavelos Beach is a wonderful destination to spend time on the beach in Lisbon. It is about 15 minutes from the city center. I highly recommend taking surf lessons in the morning. The waves in Lisbon are lovely and easy for beginners!

Honest Greens (lunch)

Honest Greens is my favorite place to have lunch in Lisbon. It’s a trendy café and lunch spot serving salads, new meat and rice dishes, as well as a variety of pastries. In Portugal, I ordered their bird and goat. Cheese salad a dozen times! It’s a fast-casual atmosphere, so it’s wonderful for a quick and healthy lunch. It gets very crowded from 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m. m. , so keep that in mind. There is also a wonderful seating space on the floor floor, ideal for remote running or reading if you want some free time on your holiday for a coffee.

Boat on the Tagus River

During your stay in Lisbon, you will have to rent a boat on the Tagus River. You’ll be able to see many of the city’s landmarks from the river and enjoy a beautiful sunset. There is also a large strip of restaurants in the main harbour where boat tours are available. They go out, so there are plenty of options for dinner after an afternoon boat trip.

Izanagi (dinner)

Izanagi is an adorable Japanese restaurant located on the banks of the Tagus River, making it a great place to stop after a boat trip. If you like another meal besides shrimp (Portuguese cuisine is rich in seafood), this is a great place. to go. The menu is affordable but also of very high quality. The outdoor seating has a wonderful view of the river, even at night, as you can see the terrace lit by the lights.

Peña Park and Palace

For your day holiday in Sintra, which is about 30 minutes from Lisbon, the most sensible thing to do is to go to Pena Palace first. You can take Uber there (I think it’s more productive if you can) or take public transportation. It is the site of the picturesque castle and is situated in the most sensitive part of the mountain. I recommend buying a ticket online in advance to avoid queues at the entrance.

Regaleira Palace

Regaleira’s lesser-visited gardens are whimsical and full of desirable history. While you’re there, take a look at the Poco iniciatico (the Initiation Well), a huge well that was once used for the initiation ceremonies of a secret society. The well is so impressive and makes you wonder about its mysterious origins.

Queluz National Palace (hidden gem)

On the way back from Sintra, avoid passing by the National Palace of Queluz. This magnificent palace is a hidden gem in Lisbon. There are very few tourists here, as it is about 15 minutes from the center of Lisbon. However, it’s worth it! The rooms of the palace are exaggerated and the gardens are also very interesting.

To the Garage (dinner)

Once you’ve settled back into your accommodation in Lisbon, head to Al Garage for dinner. Al Garage is an Italian dining spot that’s popular with locals for its varied menu and captivating atmosphere. During my time in Lisbon, I was very inspired by Italian style. places to eat, so if you’re also a fan of Italian food, this place to eat is a great choice!

Belén Tower

Stop at the Belém Tower to take a photo in front of this historic landmark. While you’re there, you can line up to get to the tower itself. However, (hot plugging) I don’t think it’s worth waiting long. Instead, walk five minutes down the Strip to the next landmark (mentioned below) for an even greater panoramic view of the city.

Registry of Debris

This monument is undoubtedly impressive. Unbeknownst to many tourists, there is an elevator inside the monument that takes tourists to the top of the monument to appreciate beautiful views of the city and the Tagus River.

Osa Beach

In the afternoon, take an Uber to Ursa Beach for an unforgettable beach experience. Ursa Beach is Lisbon’s best-kept secret – this beach is surely enchanting. I will keep in mind that you have to go over a cliff to get to the beach. The hike is steep and challenging in places, so I wouldn’t recommend bringing a circle of elderly relatives or other people with physical disabilities, as there is currently no way available to get to the beach. Bring athletic shoes and water. Ask your Uber. drop you off near the lighthouse so you can take the popular hike to the beach. When I visited, my friends made the mistake of taking a less traveled trail and we ended up having to roll down a rocky cliff. On the way down, take lots of pictures of the ocean. Once you reach the beach, enjoy the beautiful rock formations that line the beach. Be careful if you decide to swim, as it can be strong here.

Lisbon Oceanarium

For your last day in Lisbon, check out the huge aquarium. If you don’t like aquariums, don’t hesitate to skip this one. I actually enjoyed seeing the sea otters and the shark tank. At the aquarium price box office, you can also buy ticket prices for the Sky Gondola located in the aquarium. The Passndola offers a 5-minute ride into the sky to appreciate the perspectives of the city and the water. This was a very memorable ride for me and I would definitely recommend you to do it. if you go to the aquarium.

Avenue of Liberty

Finally, to commemorate your stay in Lisbon, enjoy luxury shopping on Avenida Liberdade. On weekends, outdoor vendors also set up shop along the street to sell jewelry, clothing, and souvenirs to take home.

I hope you found this article helpful. If you’re traveling to Lisbon soon, enjoy your stay! And if you’re not sure whether or not to include Lisbon in your next trip abroad, I think it’s worth it!
