The experts at Flight Hacks have compiled a list of the ten cheapest destinations in Europe, based on the average cost of flights from any London airport, as well as the prices of food and hotels. With the most sensible place on the list, Bucharest, Romania proved to be the cheapest holiday destination in Europe, beating out other budget favourites in Poland and Turkey.
In Bucharest, the average price per day is around £215. 52, and the Romanian capital has the average of the cheapest hotels of all European destinations, at just £86. 72, reports the Daily Express.
What to do in Bucharest?
Located in the south of Romania, Bucharest, the country’s capital, is known for its fusion of ancient and modern architecture, colorful art scene, and the magnificent Palace of Parliament. The historic city was ruled by Vlad the Impaler before making Bucharest his capital in 1459. Its population is approximately 1. 83 million and its architecture from the early twentieth century has nicknamed it “Little Paris”.
The most productive thing to do in Bucharest, according to Tripadvisor, is to make a stop at the Stavropoleos Monastery. The magnificent 18th-century Orthodox church enjoys a score of 4. 5 and is sure to appeal to history buffs. Built in 1724 and is still one of the oldest in Bucharest.

The Palace of Parliament is another hit with visitors. Known as the second tallest construction in the world, the ancient city surrounding its massive design is packed with bars and restaurants serving classic Romanian cuisine. And the nightlife doesn’t disappoint either, with a pint of beer costing as little as £2. 41, according to Numbeo. There are plenty of five-star places to go, including Player Club, Shotia, and Club Revenge.

London, Birmingham, and Glasgow offer direct flights to Romania with several cheap airlines, including Ryanair, BA, easyJet, and Wizz Air. According to Kayak, the flight takes just over 3 hours if you depart from London.

The most productive months to stop in Bucharest are April, May, June, September, and October. During this time, the sweltering temperatures of the peak summer months can be avoided, as well as the snow and cold temperatures that affect public transport during the winter.
