Online data includes comprehensive knowledge about places that are in developing conditions
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Transportation has introduced a new online site variety tool for businesses looking for homes and communities with rail service competing for economic advancement projects.
The tool is the latest enhancement to the CSX Select Site program, which has helped dozens of brands locate suitable sites for projects expected to generate $14 billion in capital investment and create about 11,000 jobs.
“The interactive Select Site tool is much more than a searchable asset knowledge base,” Christina Bottomley, CSX’s vice president of real estate and business development, said Thursday. “It includes comprehensive knowledge and demographic analysis; characteristics; local and regional business details; salaries customer expenses and key infrastructure data. The tool provides existing and long-term rail customers with a centralized data point where they can temporarily identify controlled locations available for CSX Rail to grow and create jobs.
In March, CSX brought 4 new Select Site rating grades: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The 4 degrees will allow corporations to identify the sites that are most productive and compatible with their needs.
Currently, 11 Platinum Select sites are indexed in the tool, and CSX will soon announce the first set of Gold, Silver and Bronze rated sites to include.
ZoomProspector, the industry-leading GIS plan creation software interface, the Select Site online tool captures listings in an easy-to-navigate format for use through site selectors, network leaders, real estate agents and companies making location decisions. It supports site comparisons, 360-degree aerial tours, and an interactive CSX address map that identifies the homes of those chosen on the site. The loose tool is also mobile-friendly and requires no account registration to access information.
The CSX Select Site program is a subset of CSX’s broader business progression projects introduced in 2012 in partnership with Austin Consulting, a global leader in site progression and identification. the critical points necessary to allow rail access. In addition to helping businesses locate the right location for new projects, the Select Site program provides a platform for national, regional and local economic development agencies and officials to gain exposure for suitable development properties.
Interesting interactive tool! Currently, there are no “platinum” sites on the CSX network in Ohio and northern North Carolina. Perhaps there will be fewer “Gold,” “Silver,” or “Bronze” sites as the database is managed.
