CSX has introduced a new online variety tool to “assist developing corporations in their search for high-end rail homes and communities competing for economic advancement projects,” Class I announced June 15.
According to CSX, the new tool is the latest enhancement to the CSX Select Site program that, since its launch in 2012 in partnership with Austin Consulting, has helped dozens of brands locate suitable sites for projects expected to generate $14 billion in capital investment and create nearly 11,000 jobs.
In March, CSX brought 4 new Select Site qualification grades (Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze) into its Industrial Site Selection program for corporations to identify the most productive rail sites that are compatible with their needs. Currently, 11 Platinum Select sites are indexed in the online tool, and CSX will soon announce the first set of Gold, Silver and Bronze qualified sites to be included.
ZoomProspector, the industry-leading GIS plan creation software interface, the Select Site online tool captures listings in an easy-to-navigate format for use through site selectors, network leaders, real estate agents and companies making location decisions. It supports site comparisons, 360-degree aerial tours, and an interactive CSX address map that identifies the homes of those chosen on the site. The loose tool is also mobile-friendly and requires no account registration to access information.
“The interactive Select Site tool is much more than a knowledge base of search assets,” said Christina Bottomley, vice president of real estate and industrial development at CSX. “It includes comprehensive knowledge and demographic analysis; characteristics; local and regional business details; Wages; Customer Expenses and key infrastructure data. The tool provides existing and long-term rail customers with a centralized data point where they can temporarily identify controlled locations available for CSX Rail to grow and create jobs.
“We are excited to see the innovative way CSX is the ZoomProspector software for its new online tool CSX Select Site to announce the company’s relocation and expansion,” said Russell Riblett, vice president of sales for the Americas in the GIS Planning division fDI Intelligence Portfolio. “As the first rail company to bring this cutting-edge online software to a competitive global marketplace, CSX ensures it is in a position to meet the growing demand for new production services served via rail 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “. “
