Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes joined Sky News presenter Paul Murray in leaving after being dropped from the Liberals’ short list.
Senator Hughes has been relegated to an unwinnable spot in the New South Wales Liberal Senate for the upcoming federal election.
“For more than twenty years I have given my life to the Liberal Party. . . it would be a lie to say I’m disappointed and devastated,” Mrs. Hughes told Mr. Murray.
“The vast majority of people who have contacted me . . . have said what it means: “I love this country; I am the only senator who defended the “no” campaign. . . I will remain faithful to those values.
