The COCC board of directors approved the $375,000 sale at its meeting last Wednesday afternoon. The 40,000-square-foot lot, in downtown Madras, had an estimated price tag of $410,000.

None of this would have been imaginable without the partnership and generosity of the Miller family, and their donation will continue to improve many lives for current and future generations.

The campus expansion is a reaction to Jefferson County’s desires, such as gaps in early childhood education and physical care, as well as the major shortage of child care services in the area. In the multi-year planning phase, the plan calls for a 24,000-square-foot building, designed in particular for early childhood education programs, registered nurses, and other professional fitness careers, as well as a 100-bed daycare. It is expected to be completed by autumn 2025.
Campus expansion is funded through a combination of federal, state, institutional, and other public resources. The COCC Foundation seeks the remaining budget from philanthropic organizations and grants. The COCC campus in Madras was opened in 2011.
