MENASHA, Wis. (WLUK) — The St. Joseph Food Program recently broke ground on the site of its existing facility in Menasha in an effort to better assist the network when it comes to addressing food insecurity.
On Saturday, Monica Clare, the nonprofit’s executive director, joined Good Day Wisconsin to talk about the existing facilities, what the new area will offer, and the lack of trust in food in general.
The pantry will undergo an extensive renovation that will include a donation entrance, personal interview rooms and the relocation of offices.
St. Joe’s has raised more than $1. 7 million in donations and commitments from local network organizations and donors for its new facility.
The organization has been serving Fox Valley for more than 42 years by offering free, supplemental weekly nutrition to those experiencing food insecurity.
St. Joe’s says the increased demands and changes in its distribution style due to the COVID-19 pandemic “necessitate a reconfiguration of the area to maximize its capacity to continue serving those experiencing food insecurity. “
