Chefs Cedric and Ochi Vongerichten, known for their French-Indonesian restaurants, and Ezra William hosted a Sneak Peak cocktail at their renovating restaurant, Wayan Aspen, which will open soon at 614 East Cooper Avenue with his wife Raphael. Derly.
Aspen Magazine hosted its 50th anniversary party at the Doerr Hosier Pavilion in Aspen Meadows. The glittering magazine’s golden birthday party included a cooking demonstration by Iron Chef Justin Sutherland, a presentation by Grammy-nominated artist Jewel and a welcome message from Modern Luxury editor Alan. Klein, who paid tribute to the lovable Ernie Ashley, who founded the magazine in 1974 and was present, beaming blue and bright at age 89.
American Express hosted a Middle Eastern dinner on the terrace of the Ajax Tavern with chef Ayesha Nurdjaja and wines from Carlin Karr, Femi Oyediron, June Rodil, Bobby Stuckey and Miles White. In fact, it’s a collection of industry stars under a glowing lights.
Friday-
Catch was the setting for the Rose Garden with fine champagnes and spirits on the restaurant’s rooftop. The maximum rice cakes have left their mark among applications beyond; making floral arrangements with Julia Rosa from New York to take a wonderful souvenir; and tastings of Codigo Tequila, Sainte Marguerite en Provence Rose, Perrier-Jouët Champagne, Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, and more, all of which added style.
The Jerome Hotel continued its Epicurean Passport weekend with several events, adding an Elevated Hoops All-Star basketball tournament on a traditional 3×3 half-court with chefs and winemakers, as a special functionality through DanceAspen.
The Texas Legends and Wildcatters party presented through MML Hospitality and Panacea Collective returned with a vengeance, taking up position in Las Montañas, with Ranch Waters flowing freely. I toasted with my fellow host Greg Haynes Johnson in honor of the late Kevin Williamson, founder of my favorite beverage and former co-host of this event. Legends and guest chefs also included Autumn Rich, TJ Mathias, Kristina Weiss, Larry McGuire, Tom Moorman, Chris Shepherd, Saera Mardanbigi, Edgar Rico and Lou Lambert.
Actress Gal Gadot enjoyed specialty cocktails made with locally made Aspen vodka at her Garnish Garden cocktail on the patio of the Jerome Hotel. Guests were invited to explore the cutting-edge uses of botanicals in vodka-based cocktails, paired with cutting-edge culinary creations that showcase modernism and innovation.
Saturday-
The apprenticeship began very early with a seminar at 10 a. m. m. with Mark Oldman focused on the “Aspen Wine Camp”, with a crash course on 8 of the world’s most productive wines for special occasions. He placed one part of the tent in front of the other, dividing the audience. in two teams, Napa vs. Bordeaux, with sword and field challenges, and many products such as wristbands and collectible pins.
One of the highlights of the Grands Tastings was the meeting with Carmelo Anthony and the tasting of his wine Oda al Alma with Robert Mondavi, a red blend with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. See also the numerous local suppliers provide and participate between international, national and regional brands. ASPENX partnered with Taste Network’s Brady Lowe to bring Global Fire to the Smuggler Mine, on Aspen Public Radio. At the center of the birthday party was the art of cooking over high heat, an ancient strategy reborn in the hands of the James Beard Award. Lowe noted, “The ASPENX Global Fire event was a great success. We are already making plans for the return of Global Fire in the coming years, and we will proceed to put the grid and sustainability first.
Sunday-
Aspen Meadows Resort hosted its third annual birthday party on June 17 in the afternoon at West End Social with music via DJ Doughboy and a brunch-inspired menu. Sponsored by award-winning Uncle Nearest Premium whiskey, which pays homage to the world’s first known African-American master. distiller, Nearest Green, the occasion was also supported through Equiano Rum, Sorel Hibiscus Liqueur, LS Cream Liqueur and Hella Cocktail Co. , all of which are minority-owned.
It’s the end of a part of my weekend. So, I can’t wait to potentially partake in the first meal.
