BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Baltimore County Public Schools just distributed summer food in rural settings for the first time and got an overwhelming response.
The county’s formula said the first day of distribution, at Kingsville Elementary School on Monday, ended just minutes after it began.
School spokesman Gboyinde Onijala said the competition, which ended at noon, ended “a few minutes after the turn due to the great response. “
The formula had been released, according to Baltimore County Councilman David Marks:
The second distribution is scheduled for Tuesday at Sparks Elementary School.
Onijala said that “it has gone very well”.
“We stepped up our efforts and were ready for Sparks,” he said. “This was our first week of distribution in rural sites and we are very pleased with the network’s reaction and look forward to serving even more families over the summer. A reminder: We also supply loose food to youth every day at 16 locations across the country, not just rural sites.
