Lately, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is expected to play for the 49ers in 2024, however, he has been thinking about other characteristics that could be in play.
Aiyuk met with the 49ers this week and a report says the assembly ended with both sides saying they weren’t for an industry before the season. However, Aiyuk has not secured a contract extension, and the continued absence of a contract extension means that things may still blow up before he arrives in September.
During an appearance on The Pivot, Aiyuk said he doesn’t think the two sides are close to reaching an agreement at this point and asked what uniforms he would see himself wearing in 2024.
“If I had to guess, probably a Niners uniform,” Aiyuk said. “Probably a uniform of the Niners. Si is not a uniform of the Niners, probably a uniform of the commanders in Washington. If it’s not a Niners uniform commanders, probably a Steelers uniform.
The Steelers have already been discussed as an imaginable touchdown spot for Aiyuk and he was once schoolmated with Commanders rookie quarterback Jaylen Daniels, however, the fact that the 49ers are still the top pick probably deserves to give nervous 49ers enthusiasts some comfort as to where the hole will be this year.
