Parks Department Responds to Concerns About Delays at $45 Million Sports Complex

The City of Laredo, Texas, Parks Department has responded to concerns about the upcoming $45 million Buena Vista Sports Complex, which began painting in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in July of this year, but has suffered setbacks due to difficult situations in clearing the land and identifying the infrastructure for the facility.  

According to KKGNS, the new one will host the Pony League World Series next year.  

“I hope that by this time next year we will have the complex in a position to approve it and we can host this tournament and many more tournaments to come, with the wonderful amenities that are coming,” said City of Laredo Parks Director JJ Gomez.

Gómez said that there have been setbacks along the way.  

“One of the demanding situations they had to do to empty the area, there were no public services, so they had to bring the utilities, bring the water, bring the sewers, all that a little complicated from what I understood about the construction. . company,” Gomez said.  

The facility will feature ten baseball and softball fields, two multi-purpose soccer and football fields, as well as picnic areas, playgrounds, and even a potential aquatic center that would be the second phase of the project.

The complex, financed through the municipal tax on sports venues, will be operational until April 2025.
