Intrepid Travel launches women’s expedition to Saudi Arabia

The 12-day Saudi Women’s Expedition will be organized exclusively through female leaders and guides and aims to shed light on life in the Kingdom beyond its luxury resorts.

A limited series of five sailings, with a maximum of 12 passengers, will begin on November 26, 2024. The 12-day expedition will start at £4,795 per month.

Jenny Gray, product manager for Women’s Expeditions, said: “This development was a year in the making as we challenged ourselves to create a Saudi Arabia that aligned with our values and was a true force for good. Gray adds: “With tourism in Saudi Arabia focused on expansive, ultra-luxurious offerings, we sought to balance this by creating something absolutely unique to Saudi Arabia – something that puts the voices of local women center stage. With activities like enjoying fine dining with a local chef and being pampered at a women-owned salon, they will give our travelers the chance to delight in an aspect of Saudi Arabia that few people have the opportunity to delight in. . With an itinerary designed to open discussion and foster connections between women from very different backgrounds, it includes several visits to women’s shelters and women-only spaces, with an equal emphasis on host communities as well as traveling ones. Intrepid evolved this independently and is proud to partner with a local, woman-owned operator led by Sara Omar, a Saudi mother of two and avid traveler, to bring this to life.
