PHOENIX — Maricopa County ranked No. 1 in the country in economic expansion over the past year thanks to its increase in jobs and business investment.
The Site Selection publication ranked U. S. counties based on the number of projects from January 2023 to March 2024, as well as investment and employment.

Maricopa County followed on the list through counties with giant populations and workforce centers such as Houston, Atlanta, Dallas and Columbus, Ohio, among others.
The county also stood out for its workforce investment and education through its Prioritizing Industries in Demand program for the healthcare, construction, complex manufacturing, transportation and logistics, IT and finance sectors.
Chris Camacho, executive director of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, said business and network leaders have “worked tirelessly for decades to create a nationally identified operating environment and industrial centers that are conducive to diverse categories of businesses. “
