Final result Germany vs Hungary, result: Musiala and Gundogan host the round of 16 of Euro 2024

Jamal Musiala scored twice in two games at Euro 2024 before Germany captain Ilkay Gundogan sealed a 2-0 victory over Hungary and qualification for the last 16 with a game remaining.

Bayern Munich star Musiala scored in the 5-1 win over Scotland in the Group A opener and was the first player in the tournament to double his tally after Gundogan benefited from a Willi Orban error. A VAR review cleared the Barcelona midfielder of a foul on the Hungarian centre-back.

Musiala also scored late in a wonderfully orchestrated move by Toni Kroos, but Hungary proved to be a more serious opponent than Scotland as Marco Rossi’s side played an important role in an entertaining game in Stuttgart.

Roland Sallai came close to scoring in the first minute and the Freiburg striker denied the equaliser in first-half stoppage time after Orban deflected offside when he headed in Dominik Szoboszlai’s loose shot down the left.

The Hungarian tension continued in the second half and, after Julian Nagelsmann reinforced his German attack by bringing on Leroy Sane and Niclas Fullkrug, Barnabas Varga unnecessarily headed the post.

The Mannschaft needed a breather and came after a patient pass pushed their conflicted teams back, Maximillian Mittelstadt whipped in a low cross and Gundogan timed his run to perfection to finish off. There is a long way to go, but the hosts seem to be in very good shape.

Three minutes of extra time passed without too many incidents, with a yellow card for a naturally frustrated Szoboszlai. Hungary played an integral part in a fun festival and will regret some missed opportunities, adding a Varga header when the score was just 1-0. . Germany responded with a small goal, thanks to Gundogan. The hosts qualify for the round of 16 with one game to go and look in very good form. Thank you for joining us.

90 minutes: Offline in Germany!  Neuer comes looking for a cross and finishes it off. Kimmich forgives him. Orban is in a bad position but will receive a penalty.

88 minutes: Sané arrives on the right flank and his left-footed shot goes wide. Hungary is exhausted.

87 minutes: Many sign up for the German attacks, including Kimmich. Fullkrug is unable to direct his cross towards the goal.

85 minutes: Gundogan gives way to a warm ovation. Undav comes into play and will target Fullkrug in attack.

83 minutes: Can, after a corner, goes over the crossbar with substitute Adam in close collaboration.

81 minutes: You wonder if Hungary deserve to just take the 2-0 here, because they are leaving themselves so exposed and may just be a hiding place. Can made wonderful steps on the counterattack and fed Fullkurg. The Borussia Dortmund striker gave Fuhrich the start. , whose uncontrolled shot did not exactly please Nagelsmann.

79th minute: Kroos almost knocked down Fullkrug with a deft shot. He’s glorious today.

77 minutes: Sane lines up a loose shot from about 35 yards and fires it into the stands. It’s just that at least I take some responsibility for it.

75 minutes: Sane will do it alone this time, switching to his weaker right foot but forcing Gulasci to make another very clever save. It is a notable appearance of the winger.

74 minutes: Sané releases Kimmich, his Bayern Munich colleague, who fires a shot that Gulacsi deftly saves.

72 minutes: Another double change for Germany. Maybe for Andrich, who has a yellow card. Nagelsmann played for the gallery by bringing Hamburg favourite Fuhrich for Musiala.

69 minutes: Now there is some bluster about Germany. Kimmich shines in front of goal, beyond Fullkrug.

67 minutes: GOOOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLL!!! Ilkay Gündogan!!

Germany pushed Hungary back and forth. This means that Gundogan has the opportunity to attack the box and pass home after a low cross from Mittelstadt. A wonderfully well crafted lens and that’s it.

62 minutes: Musiala sends the ball to Nagy, this one penalized for handball. No dice. Here is the Bayern Munich striker again, moving, moving and shooting from 25 meters.

60 minutes: Great chance for Hungary!  Varga rises magnificently over Tah at the far post. That was the hardest part. It hit the target but heads towards it.

58 minutes: Nagelsmann comes to the bench to make a double substitution. Sane and Fullkrug Wirtz and Havertz.

55 minutes: Beautiful plays by Gulacsi. Gundogan’s engineers have the opportunity to finish off a cross with clever footwork. The Hungarian goalkeeper clearly pushes. Kroos’ attempt in the continuation was deflected, but the RB Leipzig player adapted well to save.

53 minutes: Good counterattack by Hungary that forced Andrich to intervene. Now back to Germany. A fun circular about what turns out to be a key era of competition.

47 minutes: Orban’s random block spins Rudiger’s disc. Havertz shoots Fiola into the corner to concede a loose shot.

Hungary gets us going again, placing many players on the left side and passing the ball forward. Germany takes care of its complexes. There is no replacement in any aspect.

Germany are well priced for their lead and seemed to put Hungary exactly where they wanted it towards the end of this half. However, Sallai’s disallowed goal was a warning. A penny for the mind of Orban, who lost his balance on Musiala’s goal and then found himself unnecessarily offside for the equalizer that did not come. Another smart game at Euro 2024, this one.

45 2 minutes: GOOOAAAAAA. . . . NO!  Hungary believes it is tied. Szoboszlai with a magnificent left-footed play, introduced by Orban. Neuer saves and Sallai nods to recover the rebound. But Orban veered offside with the initial kick.

44 min: MUSIC!  Gerguyy’s older player finishes a very clever play and fires a very clever shot into the side net. An intelligent part of the crowd believes that the case.

41 minutes: Germany’s total corners reach six when Bolla blocks Mittelstadt’s last attempt.   Oh, and Vargas almost headed Kroos’ corner into his own goal!  Oooffff, Gulacsi worried for a second.

37 minutes: Kerkez takes the lead again under pressure from Kimmich. Kroos is retired. Mittelstadt volleyed in from the edge of the area, which he blocked. The Stuttgart left-back wins another corner. Hungary took care of it, but suddenly it seemed that Rossi’s men needed a break to regroup.

32 minutes: Kimmich attacks the Hungarian from the right side and Dardai makes an evasive action.

29 minutes: Another possibility for Hungary when Kerkez bombs from the left. He discovered Szoboszlai, whose shot was blocked by a last-minute intervention by Tah.

26 minutes: Hungary almost responded instantly!  Rudiger knocks down Kerkez to finish an attacking run. Szoboszlai forces Neuer away from his most sensitive corner and Vargas fails to capture the rebound from a tight angle.

22 min: GOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLL!!!! Jamal Musiala!!

Oh, Hungary cancels its smart work. Gundogan returns to the area to recover Musiala’s pass. He can’t, Orban manages to do it but then loses his balance. He needs a foul, he doesn’t get it and Gundogan returns to Musiala for the Bayern Munich star to take it. They are two out of two in Euro 2024.

19′: Germany are not yet in full flight, but Musiala and Havertz combine well in a one-touch move, but the latter’s pass to Gundogan is overlooked.

15 minutes: An eventful start to the tournament for Bolla, who now attacks the German left. His retreat reaches Sallai on the edge of the area. The shot is blocked.

12 minutes: Kroos’ good pass from the left, Andrich shoots at goal and Bolla gets in the way. This time Kroos on the right and Hungary clears their lines.

11 minutes: Almost 1-0 for Germany.   Orban finds himself in an unseemly tangle under a bouncing ball, Havertz intervenes and Gulacsi makes a long save before Bolla clears behind.

6 minutes: Germany clears a Hungarian corner from the left. The ball came back, swept by Bolla, whose attempt was deflected by Andrich. The hosts face the next free throw, but there are enough moments of encouragement on the field. moment for Rossi’s men.

5 minutes: Havertz arrives from the right, shoots with his right but it is very easy for Gulacsi.

3 minutes: Rudiger throws a ball towards Havertz, who has his back to goal and has too much area just inside the penalty area. The Arsenal player turns around and Fiola accepts the challenge.

Come on. I don’t have this countdown yet. Oh, first chance for Hungary! Germany behind, Kimmich fell asleep and Neuer had to jump off his line to frustrate Sallai.

8 minutes before kick-off: They’re in the tunnel and you can hear a huge crowd in Stuttgart, plus the incredibly talkative Hungarian contingent. Are here.

30 minutes before kick-off: Teams are warming up in Stuttgart and we have confirmation that Germany will be wearing their, shall we say, ambitious pink and purple replacement kits. Something of a break from tradition, some online pranksters have referred to it as a “Barbie kit”, however, Adidias proved to The Athletic this week that it has the best-selling away jersey in the history of the national team.

Germany’s new pink jersey is the best-selling away jersey in the history of the national team. The shirt was launched in March and, the German Football Federation (DFB) showed to The Athletic, it broke the record for away shirts sold in Germany. history since its launch… pic. twitter. com/IBYMpV4Aq7

50 minutes from the start: German coach Nagelsmann knows the opponent very well. Dominik Szonoszlai, Willi Orban and Peter Gulacsi all played with him when he was at RB Leipzig. A few moments ago, Nagelsmann greeted the trio after waiting for them in the tunnel.

1h10 before start: here is the German team. As expected, Julian Nagelsmann was left with an unchanged team compared to the Scottish defence. This means that night one’s top scorer, Niclas Fullkrug, will once again have to settle for a place on the bench.

1 hour and 20 minutes left until kickoff: Today’s start is in group B, in which Croatia beat a dynamic Albania 2-1. Andrej Kramaric equalized for Zlatko Dalic’s team and thus joined an exclusive club.

33 – Today, at 33 years old, Andrej Kramaric is the third player to celebrate his birthday at a European Championship, after Jean-François Domergue in 1984 (27th birthday) and Wesley Sneijder in 2008 (24th birthday). Fiesta. #EURO2024 pic. twitter. com/9Ag5G24cpZ

1 hour and 40 minutes to kick-off: it will be desirable to see to what extent this recent and asymmetrical form against Hungary counts for something. It is simple that there was a lot of uncertainty around Germany ahead of the local tournament before defeating Scotland. out of the water. The Mannschaft were eliminated at the organisational level of the last two World Cups and only reached the round of 16 of Euro 2020 after snatching a point behind their warring parties today. England then put an end to their interest. But it only took one authoritative figure for other people to believe again that this Germany team was the brutal tournament device of yesteryear.

Hungary played respectably enough in their defeat to Switzerland to be able to offer at least a real barometer of Germany’s situation. To what extent is last Friday due to the brilliance of Nagelsmann’s team and to what extent was Scotland surely terrible?

2 hours before kick-off: Hello and welcome to The Sporting News’ politics of Germany vs Hungary in Group A of Euro 2024. The hosts beat Scotland 5-1 on the opening night of the tournament, but are winless in his last 3 games against Marco Rossi’s team.
