SHENZHEN (AP) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday sent a congratulatory letter on the opening of a sea passage connecting the cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan in southern China’s Guangdong province.

Stretching 24 kilometers, the crossing reduces the time between Zhongshan City and the Shenzhen Technology Center, located on both sides of the Pearl River estuary in Guangdong Province, from two hours to about 30 minutes.
