Auburn’s Pantry moves to Fingerlakes Mall to improve accessibility

St. Alphonsus Pantry has moved to a new location in Auburn’s Fingerlakes Shopping Center, accessible to customers. The move, completed in May, marked the pantry’s first move off the grounds of St. Alphonse Parish in more than 40 years.

Coordinator Sue Norton was pressed to say that, despite initial concerns, consumers had no difficulty locating the new site. The mall’s location offers several benefits, such as handicap accessibility, sufficient parking, and proximity to a bus route, making it more convenient for many consumers.

The pantry’s increased visibility has also attracted new consumers and volunteers. Although some consumers walking to the old site needed help making the transition, the new site turned out overall, with Norton noting a steady flow of food and cash donations from visitors. to the shopping center.
