Hospitality experts will offer tips to ensure an optimal experience.

To make the most of the experience of traveling in today’s dubious environment requires planning, foresight, ingenuity, perseverance and, sometimes, prudent recommendations from experts who, at most, agree on one thing: “Leave nothing to chance”.

There are many moving parts in planning a trip, each distinct from the others. Whether it’s getting a room upgrade or getting the most out of your investment, these hospitality experts offer the following tips to make sure your travels, whether business or leisure, meet the highest standards imaginable.

1) How to upgrade your room:

George Cook, Director of Customer Services, Deer Path Inn, Lake Forest, Illinois

If you’re a repeat guest, consider doing something thoughtful to the staff: whether it’s sending a thank you note after a memorable stay or bringing pastries to the table team when you arrive, those small gestures will be recorded in your guest profile for them to remember. See existing and long-term workers. If you’re ever looking to get a reservation or upgrade during an incredibly busy booking period, have a much better chance of getting it (at no additional charge or fee) thanks to the appointments you’ve created. with the team on site.

Chris Harvey, Director of Operations, Charlestowne Hotels, Charleston, South Carolina

It never hurts to ask if you can get an upgrade on the day you arrive. If you are traveling for a special case (and be honest), definitely provide it to the reservations team or the head table team. For example, The HarborView Inn team will ensure that a dozen roses and a bottle of sparkling wine are in your room upon arrival for any romantic celebration. At the Spectator Hotel, your private butler will contact you before your excursion to inform you of any special requests. and make sure everything is settled before you arrive. Just keep in mind that the smaller the hotel you stay at, the fewer opportunities there will be for upgrades, so don’t be disappointed if the staff can’t upgrade your room.

2) Electronic book or not electronic book. Does the timing of hotel reservations matter?

Brendan Abraham, General Manager, Bellyard Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia

Be sure to book early to get the maximum productive rates. In most cases, hotels will increase their rates closer to arrival within two weeks. We also recommend asking about possible upgrades at check-in, as you can usually get a discounted upgrade if there is availability during your stay.

Daniel Borkowski, Regional Director of Revenue Management, InterContinental New York Barclay, New York, New York

Time matters. The time to make the electronic reservation would be about six months. Depending on the price of the hotel, they will most likely identify and anticipate slower dates down the road and make them worth it with a discount.

Look for hotels that offer a multitude of additional experiences.

3) Hotels are increasing. How to get the most out of your investment:

4) Tips for booking the room with a view:

Jonathan Stas, Chief Marketing Officer, InterContinental New York Times Square, New York, New York

To book rooms with the most productive prospects, I suggest checking the hotel’s social media pages, basically Instagram, to see what the hotel has posted and what they have been tagged in. Many of our visitors tend to take pictures from the ground. Windows from the ceiling of our rooms with direct perspectives of Times Square and post them on Instagram tagging the hotel. From there, we listen to prospective visitors via DMs who ask them more information about the room and who they can contact to book it. We have them call eeeebook or eeeebook on the hotel’s website, rather than OTAs, so they can make sure they get the room they like with a view.

Jennifer Strum, Chief Marketing Officer, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, Hollywood, Florida

Be personal. Call a hotel reservations agent directly. Share the experience you need, such as a romance, family, or party, and ask which room is best to meet your needs. See photos of the hotel rooms and check availability.

5) Room service. What to ask for and what to avoid:

Scott Gentile, Director of Sales and Marketing, Marriott Marquis Houston, Houston, Texas

Room service is now served almost entirely in disposable containers, unlike the cart of yesteryear with tablecloths and a flower. My suggestion is to move any wilting or melting foods away from the kitchen and into the bedroom. For example, French fries will most likely become soggy during shipping unless you order them crispier. I opt for a salad with white protein (instead of a white salad with spicy poultry breast) or a full hot meal like pasta. Try to order absolutely bloodless foods or absolutely hot hot foods, avoiding fried foods.
