However, sometimes, the number of fantastic videos and TV shows that can be streamed can be overwhelming and lead to aimless scrolling.

For you, we’ve rounded up the most productive videos and TV shows to stream this week, adding new releases, nostalgia-filled favorites, screen-to-screen book adaptations, and much more. For the week of July 29 to August 4, 2024, there are several live streams and events worth watching, in addition to the first full week of the Paris Olympics.

There are other big new movies and TV shows you can watch at your leisure this week. After its theatrical release, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes discovers a streaming house, just in time for weekend movie night. Animation enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to this week: a 12th season of Futurama, an all-new Batman cartoon, and SpongeBob’s friend Sandy is getting her own movie. Two documentaries are also expected to air, one focused on Elizabeth Taylor’s legacy and based on the hit true crime podcast “Betrayal. “

Wes Ball, whose further projects include the Maze Runner trilogy, is directing the definitive film in the Planet of the Apes franchise. In Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the apes have completely taken over and live in harmony, while the humans hide in the shadows. When a new leader takes control and needs to end the human threat for good, an alliance is formed between a human (The Witcher’s Freya Allan) and a primate. The film will premiere on Hulu on August 2.

Elizabeth Taylor passed away more than a decade ago, but now audiences can hear the Hollywood icon’s story in her own words. Newly recovered interviews with Taylor have provided unprecedented insight into the star’s life and are shared in HBO’s latest documentary. of her life and the struggles she faced in her legendary career, Taylor’s films will offer audiences a new look at actress Cleopatra. Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes will premiere on Max on August 3.

Prime Video’s version of Batman is already making headlines with Minnie Driver voicing a gender-swapped penguin. The new animated series, Batman: Caped Crusader, focuses on Bruce Wayne’s quest for justice and the unforeseen ramifications of it. Rated TV-14, this edition of the DC hero is aimed at an older audience. All episodes of the show will be available to stream on August 1 via Prime Video.

ABC News Studio is releasing a second season of the documentary series Betrayal, based on a popular true-crime podcast. This season follows Ashley Lytton, a mother of three who accidentally discovers a sinister secret about her husband, Jason. The series follows the series of devastating events in which Ashley and her family struggle to get to the bottom of a web of lies and truths. Betrayal: A Father’s Secret premieres on Hulu on July 30.

Fry, Bender, Leela and the rest of the Planet Express gang are back for season 12 of Futurama.   This is the second season to premiere on Hulu since the beloved series’ revival. We don’t know exactly what’s in store for the interplanetary delivery service team, but we think they’ll travel to new worlds and set off on fun adventures. New Futurama episodes will be released on Mondays.

In honor of SpongeBob’s 25th birthday, Sandy Cheeks will have his own movie on Netflix. When Bikini Bottom and his population are evacuated from the ocean, it’s up to Sandy, who breathes the air, to save the city. While several of your favorites will feature aquatic characters, including Squidward and Patrick, this movie is usually set on dry land when Sandy enlists the help of her circle of southern squirrel relatives to save her friends. Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie will premiere on Netflix on August 2.

What can be better than sports policy through experts who know what they are communicating?Commentary from comedy legends Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, if you prefer laughter to true vision. Peacock is the broadcast house for the 2024 Summer Olympics, and that includes the highlights of the Olympics with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson, a communicational, exhibition-style series that features recaps of the unforeseen moments and events with clips from the duo. The exhibition premiered on July 26, the same day as the opening ceremonies.

Project Runway fans will need to check out Dress My Tour. Eleven fashion designers will compete to make their dream of creating the looks of the world’s biggest stars come true. Each week, Kate Upton will host incredibly talented artists, including JoJo Siwa and Ty Dolla$. ign, Paula Abdul and Toni Braxton, who will provide fashion collections designed for their upcoming tours. But those designers are just looking for prestige: They can make $100,000, too. All episodes of the first season of Dress My Tour were released on Hulu on July 23.

Based on the 1981 film, Time Bandits is a new show available on Apple TV and created for television with the help of Taika Waititi. Starring Lisa Kudrow, Time Bandits follows Kevin (Kal-El Tuck), an 11-year-old history buff boy who travels back in time. Kevin will have to work with unlikely allies (an organization of time-traveling thieves led by Kudrow’s character) to return and save his family and home. Rated PG, this is a series that the whole family can enjoy.   Time Bandits premiered on Apple TV on July 24.

Michael Keaton directs Knox Goes Away, an action-packed mystery starring Keaton, James Marsden, Al Pacino, and Marcia Gay Harden. In the film, a professional hitman (Keaton) immediately develops a form of dementia with only a few weeks to live. When his son (Marsden) asks for help clearing his name, the hitman, who loses his sense of reality, will have to solve a case with the police and before his time runs out.   Knox Goes premiered on Max on July 26.

Acrobatics, death-defying acrobatics, and incredible display make Cirque du Soleil’s exhibits a unique entertainment experience. The iconic Las Vegas O show, which features a giant pool built into the level for high-level diving feats, has been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cirque du Soleil: Sin Red documents this difficult period, and the owners even pointed to bankruptcy at one point. After 400 days, the artists and the team are given the green light to resume education and will have to adapt to a new normal. The documentary was released on Prime Video on July 25.

In the new Netflix series, Simone Biles Rising, Biles speaks candidly about this time in her life and the effect the events had on her intellectual health. The two-part series documents the steps Biles has taken since that day and how she has progressed on the path to good fortune for the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024. Simone Biles Rising premiered on Netflix on July 17.

In the 1960s, a young woman disappears on Thanksgiving Day. Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) becomes obsessed with death and tries her hand at investigative journalism. Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram) struggles with herself and her circle of relatives as she runs in black politics in Baltimore. Although they are very different, their lives seem to be linked, but Schwartz’s investigation puts them all in danger. Lady in the Lake premiered on Apple TV on July 19.

Fancy a movie full of action and hilarious scenes?Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman return for a moment to the movie My Spy, where they are set in Italy on a school trip. However, when the Vatican is attacked, the project changes. Alongside the iconic couple, other big stars such as Ken Jeong, Kristen Schaal, Anna Faris and Craig Robinson appear in the film. My Spy: The Eternal City premiered on Prime Video on July 18.

Game of Thrones’ Anthony Hopkins and Iwan Rheon star in the Peacock series Those About to Die. Set in the early Roman Empire, this exhibit takes audiences into gruesome sports where beasts battled foot soldiers to entertain the masses. Bloody gladiator competitions take over as policy and dynasties begin to explode.   Those About to Die premiered on Peacock on July 18.

Kristen Stewart, Ed Harris and Katy O’Brian star in the film A24 Love Lies Bleeding. Lou (Stewart) is a lonely gym owner who falls in love with a new town bodybuilder, Jackie (O’Brian). As Jackie begins to run at the family shooting range, she learns that Lou Sr. (Harris) is in the middle of a criminal business. Love Lies Bleeding premiered on Max on July 19.

Brandy and Paolo Montalbán reprised their iconic roles as Cinderella and Prince Charming in the original Disney film, Descendants: The Red Rose. In the fourth franchise of the Descendents series, Red, the daughter of the famous Queen of Hearts, is invited to Auradon Prep. Red is excited about the experience, but her mother returns to campus on her first day. To save the school, Red and Cinderella’s daughter will have to go back in time to prevent Red’s mother from becoming a villain. The film La familia premiered on Friday, July 12.

Listen up, Bachelor Nation: The new season of The Bachelorette premiered on ABC on Monday, July 8, and began streaming on Hulu the next day. Season 21 stars Jenn Tran as The Bachelorette, who first appeared in Joey Graziadei’s season of The Bachelor.   Tran will try to find love among the 25 suitors vying for his attention.

Rashida Jones stars in the new Apple TV series Sunny, which has a mystery component, a suspense component, and a dark comedy component. Jones plays Suzie, whose life is devastated when her husband and her son disappear after a plane crash. Suzie is given a robot named Sunny, supposedly created through her husband; Her last known profession was servicing refrigerators at an electronics company. As more questions arise, Suzie and Sunny work together to investigate the truth. Sunny premiered on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, July 10.

Famed singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge suffered tragedy when she lost her 21-year-old son for reasons similar to his opioid addiction. Since then, Etheridge has been inspired by the cards he earned from encarceratedArray, many of which also struggle with addiction. Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken documents the stories of the incarcerated and the concert Etheridge plays in the penitentiary. The documentary series premiered on Paramount on Tuesday, July 9.

Academy Award-winning actress Faye Dunaway tells her story in HBO’s newest documentary, FAYE. In the documentary, Dunaway speaks candidly about her difficult formative years and the demanding situations she faced during her legendary career. The iconic star is joined by her loved ones, and adds many celebrities who rose to fame during Hollywood’s “second golden age. ” FAYE premiered on Max on Saturday, July 13.

After 30 years, Eddie Murphy takes on the role of Axel Foley. Beverly Hills Cop 4: Axel F features an all-star cast, including Judge Reinhold, Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige. Axel finds himself in Los Angeles when his daughter (Paige) is in danger. While he probably wouldn’t have replaced much since his last job, the city has.
