TSMC will hold an opening rite next month in Dresden, Germany, to celebrate its first semiconductor factory in Europe.
The milestone is a big one as TSMC expands its global semiconductor production footprint, with TSMC Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei leading a delegation from the company and host equipment and material suppliers, clients, and government officials on August 20 as a sign of TSMC’s commitment to its investments into Germany.
TSMC’s semiconductor factory in Dresden, formerly known as European Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (ESMC), enter service by the end of 2027, according to Nikkei Asia sources. The new semiconductor factory in Dresden will constitute “a new size for sustainable semiconductor production”. in Europe”, according to TSMC’s invitation to the event, collected through Nikkei Asia.

To complete the project, TSMC hired Christian Koitzsch, a veteran and former senior vice president of Bosch and director of the Dresden plant, to lead the semiconductor factory’s structural operations.
TSMC has also expanded its semiconductor production plants in the United States and Japan over the past two years, and its site is called “Nightless Castle” because it was built in two years with incredibly hard paint and 24-hour workdays.
