WoodbridgeNaz Church to Reopen Food Pantry with Ribbon Cutting and Free Grocery Distribution

WoodbridgeNaz Church Food Pantry Under Structure in April 2024 [From Church Facebook Page] WoodbridgeNaz Church announces the grand reopening of its food pantry on Aug. 13 with a noon opening rite and free grocery distribution to patrons from 6:30 a. m. to 6:30 a. m. m. a 8:00 a. m. 30 p. m. The pantry will be open on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The church is inviting the network to volunteer and take the lead.

WoodbridgeNaz (a Church of the Nazarene) is pleased to announce the grand reopening of the Woodbridge Nazarene Food Pantry on August 13 with two events.

At noon, network representatives and donors are invited to an inauguration rite and a guided tour. RSVP to [email protected]

That afternoon, from 6. 30 p. m. At 8:30 p. m. m. , consumers will get food in bulk. Thereafter, the pantry will be open on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. On-site registration is required and distribution hours are guaranteed. No source of income requirement is required. The church is located at 14001 Smoketown Road, Woodbridge, Virginia, 22912. The pantry pavilion is at the rear of the building.

“Reopening our pantry has been an adventure based on patience, collaboration and acceptance as true in God. This birthday party is a blessing to us and to the network we serve,” said Rev. Pamm Fontana, pastor major. “Isaiah 58:10 teaches us: ‘Feed the hungry and help the troubled. Then your kindness will shine in the darkness, and the darkness around you will be bright as noonday. We are grateful for the opportunity to use the resources that God He has accepted us as true Christians to be an intelligent neighbor of our network.

The pantry was mothballed in November 2023 to allow for construction. Before the administrative pause, the pantry served more than 20,000 people over the past year. The pantry is a joint effort between WoodbridgeNaz and Woodbridge Church of the Nazarene. The generosity of the surrounding communities has contributed to its realization. The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William funded the installation of an ice space and pavilion. Sentara Cares made a donation to renovate the kitchen. The Capital Area Food Bank and Northern Virginia Food Rescue (and their partners) generously provide food.

WoodbridgeNaz has long partnered with other organizations to create a food distribution site for our 22192 zip code. This area, along with neighboring zip codes 22125, 22193, and 22191, lately have the highest rates of food insecurity.

The Church actively serves the network in various ways. A closet for loose clothing is available by appointment. A networking closet connects donated new family pieces to social workers and local nonprofits. Collectively, those charitable efforts are called Community Connection Ministries.

WoodbridgeNaz Community Connection Ministries’ project is “Demonstrating God’s Love Through Compassionate Commitment to Community, One User at a Time,” which supports the church’s overall project of making disciples of the symbol of Christ in all nations that are real, applicable, and relational.
