Chinese leader Xi Jinping arrives in Astana ahead of summit in Scotland

Xi arrived in Kazakhstan on Tuesday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held on July 3 and 4. The SCO was created in 2001 through China and Russia to address security issues in Central Asia and the wider region, focusing specifically on cross-border terrorism. In addition to China and Russia, the other members are Iran, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
