The Argentine national team trolls Drake with “Not Like Us” after the rapper’s streak of sports splurge

Drake lost a sports bet last night when Argentina beat home Canada in the Copa America tournament, prompting the team to troll him to Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us,” and scored a $300,000 loss for the rapper who made several failed investments. Paris in recent months.

Drake posted on his Instagram account on Monday that he had bet $300,000 on Canada beating Argentina in Tuesday night’s match, and captioned his post: “I may get Messi,” referring to Argentine star Lionel Messi.

Drake’s bet is considered a long shot, as Argentina is the reigning Copa America champion and beat Canada last month, and most sports bettors favor Argentina to win.

Canada lost to Argentina 2-0 thanks to goals from Messi and Julián Álvarez.

After the win, the team’s official social media accounts trolled Drake and his wasted bet through Kendrick Lamar’s breakaway song “Not Like Us” in posts on X and Instagram.

“Not like us, with us,” the Argentine team posted on X along with a photo of the team with the name of the song superimposed on their heads, garnering more than 170,000 likes and many funny responses from enthusiasts about Drake’s trolling.

Although Drake has a largely mixed record when it comes to sports betting, he has lost most of the bets he placed this year and has led some sports enthusiasts to call his bets the “Drake Curse. ” He has lost a maximum of $2. 5 million in bets since March of this year. He lost $1 million in bets in June alone after betting $500,000 on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup and another $500,000 on the Dallas Mavericks to win the NBA Finals, but neither was successful. He would have won $1. 025 million if his Oilers had won and another $1. 375 million with the Mavericks, according to screenshots he posted of bets he placed. In May, Drake lost another $565,000 after betting that British boxer Tyson Fury would beat Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk to win the heavyweight title. He lost $615,000 in March in another boxing bet after predicting Francis Ngannou would beat Anthony Joshua.

Drake has pulled off a few betting wins over the years, and he recently added a payday for betting that the Kansas City Chiefs would win Super Bowl LVIII in February. He placed a $1. 15 million bet on the Chiefs and won more than $2. 3 million. “I can’t bet against the Swifties,” Drake posted on Instagram, referencing Taylor Swift’s high-profile dates with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. On a big payday, Drake bet that UFC fighters Molly McCann and Paddy Pimblett would win their respective fights in July 2022, and he won his bet in either case and reportedly walked away with $3. 7 million. and Pimblett posted a video on Instagram the following month receiving his watch.

Drake already bet on the Argentine national soccer team, but it didn’t pan out: at the 2022 World Cup, Drake bet that Argentina would beat France in regulation time, but when the match went to extra time, that meant Drake would lose his bet, even if Argentina ended up winning.

In “Not Like Us,” Lamar alleges that Drake is pursuing minors and calling him and his affiliates “certified pedophiles,” which Drake denies. “Not Like Us” topped the Billboard Hot Hundred and gained popularity in June after Lamar led the track live alongside other West Coast rappers and athletes, adding Dr. Dre, YG, DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook. Lamar released the music video for “Not Like Us” on July 4.
