Vietnamese Party Leader and State Chairman To Lam Visits Vietnamese Revolutionary Relics in Guangzhou

General Secretary of the Vietnamese Party and State President To Lam and his wife, together with their entourage, laid a wreath in honor of martyr Pham Hong Thai at his grave in Huang Hua Gang Memorial Park and viewed the relic of the headquarters of the Vietnamese Party. Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League in China’s Guangdong province, after arriving in the provincial city of Guangzhou on Sunday.

The Vietnamese leader is on a three-day stay in the neighboring country at the invitation of General Secretary of the Chinese Party and President Xi Jinping.

This is his first stop in China since he took over as head of the Vietnamese Party on August 3.

The Party General Secretary and President Lam and his wife were accompanied at some locations in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, according to the Vietnam News Agency and World and Viet Nam Report.

At the Huang Hua Gang Memorial Park, the Vietnamese leader, his entourage and entourage prostrated themselves and paid a floral tribute at the tomb of martyr Pham Hong Thai.

The Vietnamese leader and his senior officials pledged to join hands with the Party and other peoples to promote classical solidarity, revolutionary spirit and self-reliance, and make Viet Nam a sustainable and evolved nation.

The martyr Pham Hong Thai, born in Nghe An province in 1895, a Vietnamese patriot and sacrificed his life in Guangzhou on June 19, 1924.

Upon enlisting in the Tan Viet Youth Union founded by Ho Tung Mau and Le Hong Phong in 1924, Pham Hong Thai was commissioned to assassinate the then French Governor-General, Martial Henri Merlin, on his stopover in Guangzhou.  

After the failed assassination, the Vietnamese patriot committed suicide by throwing himself into the Pearl River on June 19, 1924.

The incident caused a stir in China and helped inspire national liberation movements in Asia.

In front of the tomb there is a stone on which are engraved written in Chinese. The writings honor the heroism of Pham Hong Thai.

After leaving the Huang Hua Gang Memorial Park, the Vietnamese leader and his entourage looked at the relics of the headquarters of the Viet Nam Revolutionary Youth League at No. 13 (now No. 248-250) Wen Ming Street in Guangzhou City.

This position was related to the revolutionary career of former President Ho Chi Minh in the period 1924-1927.

Despite a hundred years of existence, the space and internal exhibitions have been conscientiously preserved.

The space served as the headquarters of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League, predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam, founded through Nguyen Ai Quoc.

In this establishment, Nguyen Ai Quoc opened 3 political courses for 75 Vietnamese revolutionary leaders.

His lectures were compiled and published in an e-book titled “Duong Kach Menh” (The Revolutionary Path). The e-book was then one of the first theoretical documents of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

What remains of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League headquarters includes a classroom, former President Ho Chi Minh’s bedroom, student lounges, a kitchen and an exhibition space.

Party leader and President Lam wrote poignantly in a guestbook.

“A high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Vietnamese State visited in a moving atmosphere the remains of the headquarters of the Revolutionary Youth League of Viet Nam, where beloved President Ho Chi Minh spent his years of revolutionary activities and training. The first leaders of Viet Nam are unbreakable generations of communists, and who have witnessed the natural foreign communist sentiment, classical friendship, solidarity and close bonds of comradeship and brotherhood between the two parties, two countries and two peoples,” he said. -Writes.

“I sincerely thank the Chinese Party and state, as well as the Party Committee and the leadership of Guangdong Province for paying attention to preserving the site of the relics. The friendship between Viet Nam and China will last forever.
