“Gundam Seed Freedom” has already destroyed the Japanese office

Released a few days ago, the new animated film Gundam Seed Freedom has already been a hit at the Japanese box office.

It sold 500,000 tickets and earned 770 million yen (or approximately $5. 2 million), making it one of the highest-grossing Gundam ever created.

To put that in context, Gundam Hathaway earned 523,943,800 yen (about $4. 77 million) in its early days, so Gundam Seed Freedom is obviously doing very well.

The film has also had a long and confusing production history, however, despite everything, it is here and Japanese audiences seem to enjoy it.

In terms of toys, we already have a Metal Robot Damashii toy from Rising Freedom Gundam and the Immortal Justice Gundam toy will be next month.

Like the chogokins, this toy will feature many castings.

However, the big wonder is that Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam will get the Chogokin remedy (pictured above).

This also happens to be the beginning of other Gundam models benefiting from the chogokin treatment, and Sazabi and Gundam Calibarn are also revealed.

You might think that Metal Build builds are already technically chogokin, and in a sense they are. The difference is that the Metal Build toy line stylizes the version a lot. While those chogokin toys seem more straightforward in terms of original designs.

Finally, Bandai Namco didn’t miss a circular one either, and released the vanilla Freedom Gundam in Gundam Battle Operation 2.

Anyway, for those who are excited about Gundam Seed Freedom, the movie will definitely be released in the West soon. Given Gundam Seed’s popularity outside of Japan, I hope this movie does well internationally.
