China on Monday approved 11 nuclear reactors at five sites, a record number of permits, as the government relies even more on atomic energy in its efforts to reduce emissions.
The State Council has given the green light to new reactors at facilities in Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Guangxi, state newspaper China Energy News reported. The total investment for the 11 sets will be at least 220 billion yuan ($31). billion), the structure of which will take about five years, according to the monetary publication Jiemian.
China has more nuclear reactor structure than any other country in the world and has approved 10 new nuclear reactors.
