
County officials have provided a timeline for releasing the control effects of potentially infected rainwater near mobile home parks in the East Valley.
On Tuesday, Riverside County declared a local emergency in reaction to the rupture of the retention berm at the Lawson landfill on Torres Martinez tribal lands near Thermal.
The region was severely affected by a typhoon that hit the Coachella Valley on Friday. Flooding was reported in the Coachella Valley, but specifically in Mecca, Coachella, Thermal and North Shore. Three mobile home parks in Thermal and near Lawson are flooded. with water and other unknown materials.
Crews from the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health went out Tuesday to take patterns of flooded spaces and determine if there were poisonous materials. Officials said it is the earliest deadline for the ministry to retrieve the lab-ready control pattern kits.
County officials said Thursday that the environmental effects are expected to take up to 10 days.
“Previous estimates for effects were two days, however, the necessary specialists will increase the time for effects,” a county news release reads.
Specialized tests are conducted under the direction of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.
“The county has committed significant resources to the Thermal network to protect itself from this horrific flooding,” said Supervisor V. Manuel Pérez, Fourth District. ” The network and county need answers about what’s in the water. After contacting several labs, ten days is the fastest turnaround time for that rapid test. In the meantime, I urge all citizens of the domain to follow protective precautions.
San Jose Mobile Home Park, Vargas Mobile Home Park and Gamez Mobile Home Park have been under evacuation warnings since Saturday, Sept. 2. Shelter will be provided to the citizens of the Galilee Center in Mecca.
Evacuated citizens will receive accommodation, food and services.
Authorities are urging all citizens of the domain to avoid contact with rainwater and runoff until further notice. The effects of rainwater testing will disappear if additional precautions are required.
If a user feels well or has symptoms, they are kindly requested to contact their doctor or go to a local gym.
The county Department of Transportation has restored vehicles on flooded, broken or washed away roads. Since yesterday, September 6, vehicles have been restored in all 3 cell home parks.
