NEWS, NOTES & QUOTES

* The Flyers held their first “morning skate” in Europe and it was the first chance to see and test out the brand new Vaudoise arena, where the local team (and tonight’s opponent) plays – Lausanne HC.

* While this is the first game of the trip, it’s the final preseason game and captain Claude Giroux knows all too well to not take this game lightly.

GIROUX: “We’re not satisfied with the way we played in preseason, but we have one more game here and we need to play better as a team. I think starting from game one to the last game we got better and we need to have a good mindset [against Lausanne HC].”

* The game will be played on a European/Olympic sized rink, which is nearly the same length-wise, but approximately 15 feet wider width, leaving plenty of room on the wings and through the neutral zone.

VIGNEAULT: “That’s why [yesterday] we did a little scrimmage, to get our guys used to it. We’ve only had two practices so hopefully, we’ll be good.”

* Hart will get the start with Elliott serving as back up and Alex Lyon will not dress but be the club’s emergency back up.

* Towards the end of the morning skate, Swiss music star, Bastian Baker, took to the ice with a few of the assistant coaches, as well as Chris Stewart, Tyler Pitlick and fired a few pucks on goaltender Alex Lyon.
