It followed on from Joe Schmidt delivering an upbeat press conference, despite a litany of errors, which disrupted his side’s momentum on their way to a crucial bonus point victory.
Larmour replaced the injured Rob Kearney after 50 minutes and he added a much-needed spark to Ireland’s back-line.
“Obviously the Japan game didn’t go our way,” Larmour said.
“We reviewed it and saw where we can improve on. It was a tough few days going through the game and trying to get over it, but I suppose the beauty of rugby is that next week you have a new challenge.
“You take your learnings from the Japan game and you move forward this week. I thought we did that well.
“The Japan loss hurt us a bit but we rebuilt as a group and put in a performance that we are quite satisfied with today.”
Ireland will be pleased to have kept Russia scoreless but they gave them far too many access points into the game.

It is stating the blindly obvious to suggest that much tougher tests lie ahead, but Larmour believes his side are moving in the right direction again.
“Going back to last week, our defence wasn’t good enough,” he admitted.
“Japan worked well and they got the score in the corner. That was a big focus this week.
“The Russians are big men. We had to have two-man hits against them. The defence this week was hugely important, as it is every week.
“We will go through the game and see where we can improve on to get trying to get better.
“Obviously it was very hot and sweaty out there, which made the ball quite slippy. The conditions were tough.
“But we know that going into the game. We know that we back ourselves in tough conditions.
“The ball was slippy but I thought at times we held onto it well, but obviously there were a few dropped balls and knock-ons that gave them access into the game.
“Overall, it was tough conditions but I thought we did well to get the win today.”
Larmour has shown flashes of his quality throughout the tournament without yet lighting it up.
He insists that he isn’t concerned by that however, as he looks to fit into Schmidt’s game-plan.
“I’m not really thinking about that, to be honest. I am just thinking about my role and my job within in the team,” he added.
“I am just sticking to the game-plan and trying to improve and get better. Every week there is a new challenge. This week was better. It’s important to keep building and improving as a group.
“It’s been an unbelievable experience. Getting to be here and experiencing the Japanese culture. The people here are so friendly and nice.
“I am loving it so far. Nights like that make it even better.
“Obviously last week was very disappointing and it took us a few days to get over. We rebuilt as a team and put out a performance that we were happy with tonight.”
