USA Today re-ranks Ohio State the second-best team in the nation

While many still don’t give Ohio State much credit with a top-tier victory, USA Today re-ranked their top college teams after five weeks, and OSU slid in at No. 2.

This isn’t overly shocking after Ohio State’s recorded their fourth straight victory of 40-plus points. Their dominant performance over Nebraska in Lincoln boosted them to 5-0 on the season.

That said, Ohio State has their first top-25 matchup this upcoming week as they battle Michigan State. Another crushing performance likely won’t place them over Alabama at No. 1, but it will, at the very least, solidfy their current rank.

Let’s just say columnist Paul Myerberg is loving what he’s seeing from Ohio State early on in the season.

“Ohio State is now No. 2 after unleashing another torrent of points and highlight plays in Saturday night’s trouncing of Nebraska. The Buckeyes have passed the eyeball test with flying colors. After one month, the conversation has shifted from whether OSU can continue to succeed under new coach Ryan Day to whether there is a single team in the Big Ten capable of pulling off an upset.”

While Ohio State doesn’t have a notable victory yet, they have taken down Cincinnati and obviously Nebraska, who were ranked No. 34 and No. 56 respectively. USA Today re-ranked the top 130 teams in the nation.
