Holmes MS teachers flipping burgers not pages to raise money

Wheeling| Holmes Middle School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support the school’s PTO.

Teachers from School District 21 volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, October 2nd at the McDonald’s located on Dundee Road. The teachers worked hard to serve students and their families in a fundraiser for the School.

Mr. Hamann and Mrs. Hlavacek tended the giant apple pie costume during the night to entertain the guests. Alongside them were Mrs. McGann and Ms. Rein helping to sell the pies.

Principal Richards said, “A BIG thank you to all of the families who came out to support our Holmes PTO tonight, despite the rain! Every year teachers and staff get so excited to help and be part of such a great night.”

The proceeds from the sale of 192 pies went directly to benefit Holmes PTO. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were donated directly to Holmes as well, which plans to put the money in the Holmes PTO fund to support the students.

David Bear, Owner-Operator of the Wheeling McDonald’s, was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community,” Bear said.

David Bear is always looking for new opportunities to help the local communities surrounding his McDonald’s restaurants.

“We are proud to serve the families of the Holmes community through the McTeacher’s Night event,” Bear continued. “In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”

A special thank you to Katie Sedin, Holmes MS PTO Representative, who coordinated the entire event.”Thank you to the Bear Family for such a fantastic event!” said Katie.
