Production began in 2006 under the supervision of SEED original series director Mitsuo Fukuda and his wife, series writer Chiaki Morosawara. Complete of Freedom was put on hold indefinitely in 2016 after the latter’s death following a protracted war with an undisclosed illness.

Then, in 2021, Fukuda and Bandai Namco announced that the upcoming bankruptcy of the war between the Coordinators and the Naturals had won, despite everything, a new release order.

“The film is a sequel to [Mobile Suit Gundam SEED] Destiny],” Fukuda explained of the film’s story in May 2021. At that time, at first she was not satisfied with the story, so she revised it countless times. Even after he got sick, he probably wrote more than a hundred drafts.

“With the participation of new people, the situation is over,” he added. “I also helped write the script. “

With Freedom’s planned January release date fast approaching, Bandai Namco has released a short new trailer showing Kira’s Rising Freedom update (CV: Soichiro Hoshi – Souji Okita in Rurouni Kenshin 2023), as well as the new Immortal Justice suit, whose pilot will likely appear once. Athrun Zala will return.

In addition, the trailer also showed off five new Mobile Suits, the Gyan Strom, the Gelgoog Menace, the Force Impulse Gundam Spec II, and the multicolored sets of the five-man Black Knight Squad.

While the trailer kept quiet on the main points related to those new costumes, adding the identities of their respective drivers, Bandai Namco has given enthusiasts a broader look at their appearances in a character sheet uploaded to the film’s official website.

In typical Bandai Namco style, the company also released a preview showing upcoming releases of its Metal Robot Spirits, Rising Freedom, and Immortal Justice line of castings.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom and their respective Metal Robot Spirits figures will be released recently on January 26, 2024.
