CAA Consulting Named Registration Agency for T-Mobile

Tonight on Unpacks: AAC wins a prized task, as SBJ’s Terry Lefton reports that it’s now T-Mobile’s registry.

CAA Consulting has earned a coveted assignment as T-Mobile’s company of record, reports SBJ’s Terry Lefton, as the cell phone carrier consolidates its marketing stores. It’s a well-analyzed study, as the wireless category is the one that spends the most on marketing according to itself – and in any sport.

CAA has been servicing T-Mobile’s golf facilities for the past several years. The company has also used Genesco and 160over90 for much of its sports activation, which includes a 10-year-old MLB rights deal, as well as sponsorship deals and deals with MLB teams. of the SEC/SEC network and its sponsorships in Las Vegas (the upcoming F1 race and naming rights at Golden Knights Stadium).

The Rangers are making their first World Series appearance since 2011, but their four-year-old stadium is their second Fall Classic.

That’s because in 2020, MLB opted for an unbiased venue style for the pandemic playoffs, adding the World Series and then settling on the new Globe Life Field in its first season. This led some, including agent Scott Boras, to recommend that MLB deserves to hold its biggest event in an unbiased venue, and at the time, commissioner Rob Manfred seemed open to the idea. With the Fall Classic’s return to Globe Life, the league maintains it is not actively contemplating an unbiased site for the long-running World Series.

The first time Fred Ortiz saw a World Series game at the ballpark he helped design, the building contained only a fraction of its total capacity. None of the teams were the home team, but they were thousands of miles apart. Her parents, Mexican immigrants, were there, which kept the surreal experience going in a different way when Globe Life Field presented a neutral global series amid the pandemic in 2020.

That spooky delight made it even more special when the Rangers hosted the D-backs in Games 1 and 2 of the 2023 World Series at the three-year-old stadium in Arlington, Texas. Ortiz planned to be there again, this time with About 40,000 Rangers fans cheering the team’s fantastic run to the World Series.

The timing of the venue being of national interest has led Ortiz, global director of sports and entertainment practices at architecture firm HKS, to several moments of reflection from his life story: a fairy tale about American immigration.

Read Bret McCormick’s full story about Ortiz’s appointments with Globe Life Field early in next week’s magazine.

The LPGA is heading to New England with a new event, the FM Global Championship, next year at TPC Boston, providing one of the tour’s purses, reports SBJ’s Josh Carpenter.

The LPGA will host the event, which will have a purse of $3. 5 million, the most for a non-major or field trip championship on the calendar. FM Global, a Rhode Island-based advertising insurance company, has pledged to expand the purse to $300,000. each of the five years of the contract. Industry resources say LPGA sponsors typically pay between $3 million and $4 million per year, though those figures are higher as purse sizes increase.

Last week, NFL executive vice president Peter O’Reilly briefed team owners and executives on the league’s outside strategy, which is shaping up to be the dominant theme of commissioner Roger Goodell’s next term. O’Reilly didn’t say that in so many words, however, the resources who spoke to SBJ’s Ben Fischer got the impression that the league is doing everything it can to play overseas far more than the existing five-game roster.
