The new super claim comes from Chinese tech site IT Home. As with all rumors, this one has a good dose of salt.
It is claimed that stores in China are buying RTX 4080 cards before they are replaced by the Super version. Manufacturers are also reportedly increasing their shipments, but many still expect to see the value of the card increase and its availability reduced if it is removed. Nvidia, especially if the RTX 4080 Super turns out to be much more expensive than the existing entry-level version at $1,199 (MSRP).
We’ve also heard rumors about the types of specs the RTX 4080 Super will feature. Benchlife claims that the board partners have revealed that the card will use the AD102 GPU and will come with 20GB of memory. It’s a big step up from the existing AD103-powered RTX 4080’s 16GB and would be a welcome upgrade when more and more games require ever-increasing amounts of VRAM. It’s also very likely that the Super variant will see the memory bus move from 256-bit to 320-bit.
